Our approach is practical, people-focused, and rooted in integrity. We listen carefully, identify the real issues, and offer solutions that align with your organisation’s mission and values.
I'm Matthew Clements-Wheeler, founder of MCW.
This is my business and I'm proud of it.
Why focus on education and charities?
I care about making the world a better place, and I understand what motivates our clients. Like the leaders I work with, I share a restless desire to make a difference and to inspire others to join that mission.
What gets me out of bed each day?
Optimism and drive; the belief that not only can things can be better, but that they must be better.
What's my background?
I've spent nearly 30 years working with talented leaders in educational settings and non-profit organisations. I've supported charities, academy trusts, and individual schools in their work.
My journey to date includes; supporting community renewal projects in rural Mozambique; aid work in Zambia; citizen-led urban renewal partnerships in UK; school improvement work in England; developing education leadership training in South Africa, and leading professional bodies for non-profit leaders at local and national level.
What's your leadership coaching style?
It depends. In long-term 1:1 executive coaching relationships, I usually take a non-directive approach using tools such as questions, reflections, observations, or acknowledgements.
For shorter, more focused engagements, or where clients need to improve their organisation's performance through intensive work with their senior team, I am more directive.
It's our three-pronged approach. By working with leaders to develop their personal leadership style across these areas, we help unlock their full potential.
Mastery is about continually refining skills, deepening knowledge, and applying expertise to real-world challenges.
Leaders in charities and non-profits must be ahead of new developments in governance, finance, and strategic management to make informed, high-quality decisions.
Clarity ensures that leaders and boards focus on what matters most, avoiding distractions that drain time and energy.
Great leadership is not about doing everything - it’s about doing the right things. Clarity helps leaders set priorities, define strategy, and make confident decisions.
Wisdom is the ability to balance knowledge with judgment, ensuring that leadership decisions are both strategic and ethical.
While mastery gives leaders the tools to succeed and clarity ensures they stay focused, wisdom is what allows them to navigate complexity with integrity and vision.
At MCW Mastery | Clarity | Wisdom Ltd. we invest time in learning from non-profit movements around the world. Our professional networks and connections span the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and we bring this perspective to your organisation when we support you.
We believe leaders should donate, volunteer and make gifts in kind before they ask others to support their cause. That's why we do exactly that. We donate cash and time to a number of charities.
